There are many merfolk villages around the world and you will be able to traverse the one located off the coast of Coral Island. You can decipher their language and develop relationships with them!
You can reach the Merfolk Kingdom by diving or warping. The kingdom is unlocked once all the Dua Pulu solar orbs are activated and you've completed the puzzle at the Merfolk Kingdom entrance.
The Merfolk Kingdom was a stretch goal to transform the Merfolk Village near Coral Island into a Kingdom, per the current Kickstarter. The Kingdom is where the Merfolk reside. There are 20 planned Merfolk living in this village, with 10 of them you can befriend and 2 of them being romancable.

Coral Tree[]
The Coral Tree, located on the right side of the kingdom, is an underwater sacred tree. It is the source of the black roots and can be healed by completing the quest, The Coral Tree. You must visit the Coral Tree in order to complete the quest, Roots Above.
